QR Codes // Scan Me

What is this funny little code thingy? These are called Quick Response Codes, or in short, QR Codes. These are similar to barcodes but instead of actually needing a scanner, simply using a device suffices. QR codes store information and make it easily accessible with just a scan on any device with access to a camera. There is no limit to how much a QR code can store and with this code, it gives access to whomever scans it.

When looking at a QR code (especially the one above), you can see that it has 3 sections to it. The first thing you see are the 3 boxes that appear in the corners, this is done so that the orientation can be configured. The second part is the weird pattern type thing, well that is the most important part as that is what is storing the information making it different from the millions or billions of QR codes that exist in the digital world. Now the last part - but not that important of a part - is the picture at the centre. Now this is not required, you mainly see plain QR codes with the other 2 sections, but to make it your own, the option to add colour or pictures is still available.

There are many things that can be stored within a QR Code and I will be listing just a couple to get a glimpse of the multiple uses for them. A few examples include: websites, phone numbers, documents, text, videos, images, application links, granting internet access, payments, authenticating and verifying online accounts, emails, text or SMS,  etc.
