News Week // Sustainable Fashion
What I will be writing about now is about a group of unexpected individuals being set a task to film a documentary. You may be asking, how and why we were choses, well that is very simple, we are a bunch of students going into the Film and Television course at London Metropolitan University. The documentary that we were set to produce was focused on the Fashion Show hosted by News Week.
Before I explain about our experiences while making the documentary, I will be giving an insight to what exactly News Week was about and why it is important for the university to capture this moment. London Met always gather a group of expert panelists to discuss and answer questions about Sustainable Fashion and whether fast fashion will ever be not only sustainable but also ethical. What it is roughly about is how clothes can be reused and the how people utilise or buy clothes. People nowadays are seen as a throw-away society that when they no longer need the clothes that are small for them or gets damaged, it gets thrown away. So the panelists and the catwalk (of clothes made by students) is to show that people do not need to worry about what they wear also get to be as creative as they want to support Student Mental Health.
Now time for the stress, panic and chaos. These are only a couple of ways you could say that this day went. After only getting one whole day to film, it was far more difficult than expected to get stuff done due to disagreements of the 'crew'. One good thing I could say that was good is that even though I was an Editor, I was given freedom to edit however I wanted because I had the trust of the Director and Producer that I would do a great job. Not only this, but what didn't help at all was the fact that the Fire Alarm went off at the university taking out and wasting our time. All though all turns of events occurred, and also the lack of sleep obtained in 2 weeks, finally lead to a successful documentary, with positive comments and feedback from all those who had watched it.
